Arojah Royal Theatre is a professional theatre company based in Abuja, Nigeria, dedicated to advancing the performing arts as a medium for social transformation and cultural education. Founded in 2007 and professionalized in 2010, it is recognized as one of Nigeria’s leading private theatre organizations.
The company was established out of a desire to employ theatre as a social force. Its vision is to produce theatre of the highest standard—illuminating, entertaining, and socially conscious. Arojah Royal Theatre emphasizes community engagement through advocacy-driven performances and educational outreach.
Arojah’s repertoire spans drama, dance, poetry, music, and festival management. The troupe includes about 35 resident and guest artists comprising actors, dancers, singers, and instrumentalists. Their performances often reinterpret African classics and explore contemporary social issues, making art accessible and relevant to a wide audience. Notable works include The Killing Swamp and The Dancing Grave.
As a member of the National Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANTAP) and the National Council for Arts & Culture, Arojah Royal Theatre collaborates with civic organizations to promote human rights, peacebuilding, and youth empowerment through theatre. Its advocacy performances and community-oriented projects have contributed significantly to Abuja’s evolving cultural landscape.
